Hourly wind and wave forecasts for three points: Ventspils BW, Ventspils Berth and Norvik Berth (Nynäshamn). All times are Swedish time (CET/CEST). Each model is shown separately; missing values are marked with a dash and are never filled from another model.
Ventspils BW: 57.407578°N, 21.525557°E.Ventspils Berth: 57.398842°N, 21.576607°E.Norvik Berth (Nynäshamn): 58.939033°N, 17.979752°E.
Forecasts come from the nearest model grid cell, not from the berth itself. Neighbouring points can share a cell and show identical values.
ICON-EU (DWD, about 7 km), ICON Global (DWD, about 13 km) and ECMWF IFS (about 9 km) via Open-Meteo; SMHI SNOW (about 2.5 km) from the official SMHI API; DMI HARMONIE DINI (about 2 km) from the DMI open data API. If DMI is overloaded, DMI Seamless (HARMONIE plus ECMWF) is used via Open-Meteo and labelled as a fallback. The hourly table compares all five sources; wind and gusts use the same colour scale everywhere.
ECMWF WAM and DWD EWAM via Open-Meteo, FMI WAM (Baltic, about 1.85 km) from FMI, and Copernicus Baltic WAM (about 1.85 km) from Copernicus Marine. Hs is the significant wave height: the mean of the highest third of waves. Wave models do not resolve shelter inside harbour basins. FMI and Copernicus show the peak period Tp.
The coloured field and moving particles are interpolated from a sparse grid of direct model forecasts and are an overview only. Wave numbers on the map are direct model values along the Ventspils–Norvik route, near the Ventspils coast and on the Nynäshamn approach. Model flags show wind and gusts in m/s and point to where the wind comes from. This is not a navigational chart.
Each forecast is kept on the server until the model's next update, shown on the map as “Updated” and “Next update”. If a provider is temporarily unavailable, the last good forecast is shown and labelled.
